Sound Level Meter 1.6.1

This application provides a comprehensive measurement of noise levels and functions as a spectrum analyzer for microphone signals.

It offers the capability to evaluate the microphone's frequency response quality through spectral analysis and to determine the dynamic range across various frequency bands.

The tool can operate as a VU-meter in FAST mode and as an RMS-meter in SLOW mode, accommodating different measurement needs based on time weighting requirements.

An integrated user equalizer facilitates microphone calibration for enhanced measurement accuracy.

It supports Bluetooth hands-free microphones, expanding its versatility in different recording scenarios.

The application enables users to measure:

• the total sound pressure level
• sound levels within selected frequency bands (either one octave or 1/3 octave bands)
• minimum and maximum levels during the measurement period
• the frequency corresponding to the maximum sound level
• spectral content of the signal via a visual spectrum display

Additional configurable parameters include:

• FFT size options of 4096 or 8192 points, yielding frequency resolutions of approximately 10.7 Hz or 5.4 Hz respectively
• Selectable time weighting modes: Fast (t = 1 sec) or Slow (t = 0.125 sec)
• Frequency weighting options among A, C, or ITU-R 468 standards

The app allows users to input calibration corrections (AFC) to compensate for microphone and recording device frequency response inconsistencies.

However, it is important to note that this application does not guarantee precise measurements suitable for scientific purposes, as the device may incorporate automatic gain control, limiters, and noise reduction features that are outside of the application's control.
